Working across projects ranging from supercar interiors to luxurious whisky containers; five-star hotel decor to exclusive restaurants; rifle cases to bespoke furniture commissions; the skilled Transcal in-house design team is able to bring any concept into reality.

With a world-class in-house design team, Transcal is able to see projects the entire way through the process; from ideation, to production, to testing, ensuring consistency and quality every step of the way.

Continuing to innovate, Transcal has an ever-expanding library of sustainable materials at its disposal, plus a wide network of suppliers able to source materials specific to client requirements. The team can also offer large-field embroidery, CNC perforation, laser-cutting, laser etching, high-definition debossing, plus silicon and PVC printing services.

Transcal developed its own performance-tuned, durable, and luxurious Alston™ material, which has since become a preferred fabric of automotive clients such as Jaguar Land Rover.

Transcal began developing Alston™ in 2002 to satisfy the need for a luxurious yet durable material that performs across a variety of applications – launching on the X152 Jaguar F Type in 2008. After its launch, it was selected to be used across all Jaguar car lines, before becoming the material of choice for the Land Rover/Range Rover vehicle range – and subsequently grew into a household name in the automotive industry.

Alston™ is offered as a 100 per cent recycled product – GRS certified, and is OEKO-TEX standard 100 approved.

The three variants are:

Contour: developed to stretch, helping to trim deep draw areas – ideal for concave and convex shapes such as headliners, dashboard areas, post pillars, and sun visors.

Profile: heavier in weight, and offers increased abrasion resistance for use on hard-wearing applications. It has a short microfibre pile that is soft yet durable.

Ultra: incorporates the stretch and technical qualities of Contour, but with a reduction in suede pile height.

Transcal's talented in-house design team has had the unique opportunity to work with the Scottish-owned international spirits specialists at Edrington on some truly special projects.

Most recently, the ultra-rare Macallan Horizon whisky; a collaboration between the whisky brand and Bentley motors celebrating innovation and luxury, housed in a beautiful wooden casing and limited to 700 bottles.

The Fingal Hotel located in the heart of Edinburgh, Scotland is a truly unique place to lay your head. Opening in 2019, the hotel is located on a former lighthouse ship that is permanently docked in Leith – next to the Royal Yacht Britannia.

The floating hotel has 22 cabins, with the interiors specially designed and crafted by Transcal, each named after a lighthouse belonging to the famous Stevenson family.

With embroidered headboards in the style of nautical maps, leather wardrobe doors, handles, and other interior elements, the hotel is a true design marvel that stuns all who step aboard.

Hakkasan Mayfair is a Michelin-starred, Cantonese restaurant in one of the most well-known and exclusive areas of London, and required bespoke interior elements that are both elegant and eye-catching.

Intricate embroidered elements, including beautiful dragons symbolising prosperity and power, adorn the seating solutions and celebrate Chinese culture whilst offering supreme comfort while customer enjoy some of the finest dining in the country.

Transcal is committed to its mission of sustainability and environmental responsibility, and is constantly looking for ways to improve its processes by researching and investing in materials development and the latest technologies.

Alston™ is offered as a 100 per cent recycled product, sacrificing none of its high-performance technical qualities. New processes implemented include; a new dying process reduces water consumption by 70 per cent, a factory fuel switch to natural gas has reduced air pollution by 96 per cent, and a heat recycling sustem has reduced CO2 emissions by 40 per cent.

Transcal also offers PU, an animal-free leather with equal durability to traditional leather – with a higher production yield, lower scrap rates, and high in-field longevity. Three PUs currently offered: Scuba, Haptek, and Aerolite PU.

The design-team is currently focusing on developing an innovative range of textiles made entirely from recycled polyester. Using cutting-edge recycling techniques, the goal is to retain a natural fibre handle and aesthetic, whilst continuing to ensure our products meet the highest standards of both performance and environmental stewardship.
